Sinikka Waugh and Joe Halbach discuss 5 Truths About Fasting.

In this episode of The Even Better Podcast, host Sinikka Waugh and guest Joe Halbach discuss five truths about fasting, cutting through myths and assumptions. The episode explores mindset, discipline, intentionality, and the physical and mental aspects often associated with fasting. Joe encourages thoughtful consideration and personal awareness, emphasizing that fasting is not one-size-fits-all.

Joe is 38 years old with his Bachelor’s degree in biology. His focus at the time was on ecology, evolution, and animal behavior but he was and still is interested in human health and nutrition. A lot of his recent interest has focused on exploring and learning about health and wellness, specifically in regards to:

  • A number of nutritional falsehoods in “common knowledge” and long-perceived good health practices.
  • The effect of sugar/carbohydrates on the body and the effects of breaking the body’s glucose addiction.
  • Fasting (both intermittent and more long-term)
  • Different diets (in the context of long-term patterns, not temporary “lose a few pounds and go back to normal” diets) such as The Standard American Diet, Veganism, Vegetarianism, Carnivorism, Ketogenic, and compare them to how people have eaten historically throughout the millennia.
